Hospital Indemnity plans pay benefits directly to the policyholder when a covered person is hospitalized for illness or injury.  Some plans include benefits for surgeries and other procedures.  The money can be used any way it is needed, whether it's to help with out-of-pocket medical expenses or to cover ordinary household bills during recovery.
